Pottery 101

CER-28 Chip Hand Class Fee: $38
Explore creative ways to work with clay…. Learn the basic techniques of both wheel throwing and hand building. These different yet complimentary methods can be separate or incorporated to create many pieces. Class & projects will be catered to beginner or intermediate level. Students purchase their stoneware clay from the Craft Center; your instructor will advise you of your options.
Intermediate Wheel Throwing -

CER-24 Eric Moran Class Fee: $38
This class is intended for students who have previous throwing experience on the wheel and want to enhance their throwing ability to create more complex, interesting and functional pieces. Areas we will cover include:
re-addressing the basic throwing process/techniques, exploring new ways to see/interpret the pots, throwing larger pieces with success, making a variety of handles, lids, and feet, shaping/distorting pots to enhance a better look and feel. Prerequisite: Students should be able to throw a 6 inch cylinder.
Parent and Child Pottery

Note: In this class the child is attending under the parent’s membership. For the price of one, you and your child can spend Saturday mornings together learning how to work with clay. Lots of project ideas shared! This six-week course will get you started with hand building, throwing and glazing. The Craft Center provides equipment, tools, glazes and firings. Students purchase clay from the Craft Center. Best for school-aged children.

Vessels

This beginning/ intermediate class will focus on the production of sets of vessels. Our perception changes when there are 2 or more vessels that go together as a set. In this class basic throwing techniques will be reviewed as well as intermediate forms. This class will explore the pairings of vessels and a deliberate collaboration of shape and design. Focus will be on high fire glazing techniques, however any student that has taken a low fire class or is interested in using only low fire techniques will have the option to utilize the low fire glazes (with the assistance of the instructor). |

Egg Tempera Painting

Linocut Printmaking

Sewing Machine Basics

Weaving

T-Shirt Silkscreening

In this 4-week class, learn the various stages of silkscreening to enable you to print t-shirts of your own design. Topics will include design layout, screen preparation, image exposure and printing using a 4 station textile printer. Bring notepad or sketchbook for notes. Easy Felting Workshop
Saturday 1-4 pm March 6

Make a small rug (or several smaller felted pieces) out of natural-colored and/or dyed wool in three easy steps. Bring cotton thread and an old or used cotton or cotton/poly blend sheet in twin size or larger. Wool will be provided or bring your own. Materials cost varies depending on rug size. Totally Tubular: Hollow Forms in Borosilicate

Shutterbug 101: Take Great Photos!

A four-week introductory class designed to familiarize you with your camera (film or digital). An individual camera consultation will occur on the first class...Bring your camera! Topics of discussion: exposure, composition elements, lighting and other details will be discussed for both indoor and outdoor photographing. A field trip will be scheduled.
Beginning Photography

An individual camera consultation will occur on the first class...Bring your camera! Learn to operate your camera, develop film, and print your own pictures. All darkroom equipment is provided. Please Note: Attendance at first class is Mandatory. (Suitable for adults and high school students).
Enhancing Black and White Photographs- Photo II

Ever wonder why some black and white prints can look stark and cold while others can look rich and warm? Take this class to learn why. There’s a world of fine art fiber papers in varying textures and tones to discover. Learn how to enhance desired mood in your photographs through the use of chemical toners and other photograph enhancement techniques.
Supplies: The Craft Center supplies the printing and toning chemicals and photo oils, you supply black and white negatives to print and photo paper. Bring black and white negatives to the first class (these can be traditionally processed black and white negatives or C-41 processed black and white negatives). This class is suitable for beginning printers using both fiber and RC printing papers. If you want to use your own traditionally processed black and white negatives, a basic knowledge of film processing is REQUIRED.

Intermediate and Advanced techniques to help refine your skills in the photographic area of your choosing with methods for 35mm/medium/large format, digital, digital scanning and mixed media photographers. We will discuss photographic techniques of interest to students with a strong emphasis on aesthetic theory. Come with an open mind and plenty of questions. Bring your equipment and examples of your work to the first class. A tripod is strongly suggested.
Digital Photography

Digital Photography is for all digital photographers and is divided into four segments: equipment use & Craft Center photography facilities, aesthetics, computer manipulation, and how to get the best digital output. Introduction to Photoshop
